Pennsylvania Joins the PT Compact — July 2025 Update

📢 Pennsylvania Joins the PT Compact! July 2025 Update
On July 7, 2025, Pennsylvania officially became the newest member of the Physical Therapy Compact, a significant step forward for licensed physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) seeking flexibility and freedom to practice across state lines.
This exciting development streamlines the process for travel therapists and early-career professionals looking to expand their options without the delay and cost of applying for multiple licenses.
🧭 What Is the PT Compact?
The PT Compact is an agreement among participating U.S. states that allows eligible PTs and PTAs to practice in other compact member states without needing to go through the traditional licensure process for each one. Instead, clinicians can purchase compact privileges to practice in other participating states quickly and efficiently.
To qualify, a therapist must:
-
Reside in a compact member state
-
Hold a current, valid license in their home state
-
Have no active disciplinary actions
-
Pass the required jurisprudence exams (where applicable)
The PT Compact reduces administrative burden and increases job flexibility. It’s ideal for travel therapists and those working near state borders or frequently relocating.
